Healing Ourselves/Healing the Earth
Friday, September 5   6:30-9pm & Saturday, September 6
10am-4pm Fee: $125.00  (includes light supper on Friday and lunch Saturday)

At the core of many spiritual traditions is the vision of a Web of Life to which all beings are connected.  In this vision,    each of us is one element connected with every other.  How we play our part affects our own health and well-being and that of the whole.

Medicine for the Earth Gatherings provide a space to deeply and joyously experience this connection which is our natural heritage. They offer powerful ways to contact the healer within for the mutual healing of self and Earth.  The gatherings are based on the work of Sandra Ingerman, shamanic practitioner and internationally known author of many books, including Medicine for the Earth. Please join us for an evening and a day of singing, drumming, dancing, shamanic journeying and meditation to deepen our relationship with Earth and with the Web of Life. We will work with the fire, earth, air and water elements as well as the spirits of weather to find balance and harmony within and in our environment. We will end with a healing water ceremony.

Facilitator:  Susan Bird, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist and Shamanic practitioner. She is a graduate of the three year shamanic training program offered by the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and of teacher and Medicine for the Earth trainings given by Sandra Ingerman. A deep love of the Earth led her to developing workshops in Ecopsychology and Shamanism which she offers in the United States and the Caribbean. She lived in Puerto Rico for many years, raising a family and working there. For the past 5 years she has been living in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina, practicing Psychology and facilitating Medicine for the Earth gatherings. www.medicinefortheearth.com

THE STORY BRACELET

10am-4pm
Fee: $65.00 includes lunch

What is your story? Everyone has one. What is a storyteller? Everyone is one. The Story Bracelet is a way to carry your stories wit you and share them. Each bead represents a memory, a tale, a story. In this workshop we will explore the beads and their origins. We will each crate a unique bracelet that speaks to us. We’ll select beads that remind us of stories we know, stories we want to learn, or memories from our own lives that we want to share and tell. We’ll explore, in a safe and sacred space, ways to take our memories and give them shape. Let your story nourish your soul and share it with others. Due to the individuality of each person’s bracelet, the cost of beads is extra.

Facilitator: Linda Martin is a teacher and storyteller, whose path has led her to nurture storysharing in adults by teaching and coaching storytellers. She performs at festivals, schools and libraries around the South.

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?  Nature as inspiration with Mask making

10:00am-4:00pm  includes lunch
Fee:  $65 includes supplies & mask

Today, masks have the power to free us and let their profound nature express themselves.  Whether for therapy, religious or spiritual celebration, the arts or recreation, masks allow the otherness to transcend human reality and ennoble it. Masks are one of the oldest forms to express our humanity and give us safe communication with Spirit. Masks are the mediators between God and humans. Shamans, with masks, transform themselves, are introduced to supernatural worlds and as healers ask for protection, prediction and reconciliation. Join artist Bonnie Sears for a day of exploring your connection with nature and designing your own mask.

Facilitator:  Bonnie Sears has a degree in art & education from the University of MD, is an educator, has juried shows and awards throughout the Southeast. Her work has hung in private collections as far away as Scandinavia, Europe and Central America. Bonnie is an Atlanta artist with a passion for portraits that are soulful, still life that sings stories and stone that speaks mysteries. She creates with a radiant heart, a deep spirituality and a pure connection to the natural world. Her work is currently being featured at Sautee-Nachoochee Center Gallery.
